The event will take place on July 8, 2025 in St. Leon-Rot, Germany, bringing together experts, innovators, and contributors to share insights and real-world experiences.
Upgrading A Custom-Built OpenUI5 Frontend
This year, our collegue and SAP Software Architect Andreas Pflugrad will be presenting a talk titled: “A Giant Leap? Upgrading a Custom-Built OpenUI5 Frontend from 1.84 to 1.120”
In his session, Andreas will walk the audience through the challenges and lessons learned from upgrading a complex, highly customized OpenUI5 application to the latest LTS version. While UI5 is known for its upgrade stability and backward compatibility, real-world projects often involve tailored solutions that push the boundaries of the framework.
Expect an honest and detailed look at how we approached this upgrade – from navigating module overhauls to tackling unexpected quirks in ID handling. Andreas will outline the structured process we followed, highlight potential pitfalls, and offer practical advice for those planning similar migrations. His talk is both a technical deep-dive and a case study in turning obstacles into opportunities.
